RESTAURANT REVIEW: The Matador in Ballard

Alan and I have been going to The Matador for a few years and have always enjoyed the happy hour.

It’s a great bargain featuring Romaine Wedge, Tortilla Chicken Soup, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Black Bean Dip, and Grande Nachos for $5 each. They also have Street Tacos (three for $5).

We usually make a meal of the happy hour and share several of the items. They have a great selection of drinks and their Margaritas are double pours.

The atmosphere is classy, but warm and inviting with lots of wrought iron and a cool open fireplace as well as an outdoor patio.

The Matador has a nice menu of regular entrees as well including traditional favorites such as burritos, chili rellenos, enchiladas, tacos, and carne asada. If you want a great meal and find yourself in Ballard The Matador is worth a try. They also have a West Seattle location.

We recently had family-style Fajitas delivered to a Ballard address, and the food arrived pretty quickly and was nice and hot. It was supposed to come with rice and beans, but somehow those didn’t make it to us. That said, it was plenty of food and the fajitas were delicious. The meal worked out perfectly for an outdoor physically distant gathering.

The Matador—a Ballard anchor since 2004—features Mexican-inspired food and happy hour cocktails. They are currently open for dine-in service.
