The atmosphere is festive and lively at Bang Bang Kitchen where they serve New Mexican and Southwest food.
Bang Bang has two locations; Bang Bang Café in Belltown (2460 Western Ave.) and Bang Bang Kitchen in Othello which is the only one I have tried so far.
Albuquerque natives Miki and Yuki Sodos also own Cafe Pettirosso on Capitol Hill.
I tried Bang Bang back in late 2018 when it first opened; the service was very slow, the drinks were tiny at a big price, and the food was just okay, but when I went back toward the end of last year it was like a whole new place. The service was much better, and the drinks were amazing and normal sized. The food was delicious and HUGE! I’ve returned a few times since and have been impressed; especially with their happy hour.
For the table, we usually order chips, which come with salsa, warm queso, and guacamole. I love the burrito and order it everytime. It comes with a side salad, and has beans, rice, jack cheese, green and red chile with your choice of red chile brisket, green chile chicken, or tofu chorizo. You can have it topped with either the red chili or green chili sauce, or both (Christmas style), which is my preference. I can get at least two meals from the burrito order, so it feels like such a bargain!
On my next visit, I will make myself try something else.
Bang Bang also has vegetarian and vegan options. They are open for dinner during the week and brunch and dinner on the weekends, and have garage and street parking close by.
If you find yourself hungry in the Othello neighborhood, I recommend trying them out.
