This one is for my vegetarian / vegan friends.
I have been going to Georgetown Liquor Company for many years. The best way to describe the ambiance is vegetarian biker bar. It is a bit divey, but the food is delicious.
The servers can be surly, friendly, and most often, entertaining. There’s usually plenty of parking in the small, but giant pothole ridden parking lot with puddles that you could lose a Fiat 500 in. The train track are just 20 feet away from the bar / restaurant, so it can be bone shaking when the trains rumble by.
There’s usually an eclectic mix of music playing and pinball machines and other games. The entrees are Star Wars themed. They have salads, sandwiches, tacos, nachos, tamales, enchiladas, and desserts. They also have a full bar and make some pretty good drinks.
I’ve tried many of the menu items over the years and have rarely been disappointed. If I had to pick a favorite entree, it probably would be the Tycho, which is a portobello mushroom sandwich. The mushroom is huge, it comes on a ciabatta roll with grilled red onions, mozzarella cheese, and Roma tomato aioli. onions, mozzarella cheese and baby field greens.
They can make almost any of the food vegan if you ask. I am always amazed by how hearty the food is. I have a hard time finishing my meal there. Is usually so good that I want to try though.
If you find yourself near Georgetown and want to try something a little different and funky, I recommend checking out Georgetown Liquor Company.
