After nearly a quarter century living in her unique, townhouse-style condo in West Seattle, Ann Gilbert was having a hard time navigating the stairs and needed to downsize, so she planned to move in with her daughter in Puyallup.
She contacted my longtime partner Dorothy Driver through a mutual friend, and prepared to vacate the beautifully non-cookie cutter abode with lofted design, soaring vaulted ceilings, spectacular window walls of light and fenced yard.
It was a bittersweet time for Ann, and I was happy to help make the transition as smooth as possible for her.
We met with Ann to determine what was needed to get the unit on the market. While it was a nice private end-unit in a pretty setting, it was also somewhat dated and had some deferred maintenance, so we devised a plan and timeline to accomplish the work.
Ann needed a house cleaner, painter, window washer, carpet cleaner, and someone to install new flooring, so we helped her find contractors and schedule the work.
Dorothy and I also did some of the other miscellaneous items ourselves, such as installing new cabinet hardware and other fixtures, removing old window coverings, and cleaning leaves and debris from the patio.
Once all that work was completed, we had it staged, scheduled the photographer, created the marketing materials, and put it on the market. We held it open Saturday and Sunday and within one week on the market, Ann received a full-price cash offer of $273,000. We then negotiated through the inspection and an HOA special assessment.
She is now happily sharing her daughter’s home in Puyallup without the burden of worrying about endless upkeep on her condo. Congrats, Ann!
