SAVE THE DATES: Events at Skyway Library

Skyway Library on West Hill is at it again with some of the best events featured this side of I-90. With everything from Play & Learn ongoing structured group sessions for the little ones, a Hip-Hop History and Self-Expression Music Workshop for those 12 and older, and Community Coffee Hour for all, there is no better place to meet your neighbors and experience something new than Skyway Library. Upcoming Events:

  • Play & Learn-Professional and caring facilitators from Renton Area Youth and Family Services offer a structured group for families with young children, learning life skills through play. Have fun singing songs, sharing books and stories, creating art and playing. For ages newborn to 5, with an adult. This is a drop-in program, no registration is required. See the full schedule here.   • Special Ryan Coogler Film Screenings of Fruitvale, Creed & Black Panther-Ryan Coogler is one of the defining filmmakers in Hollywood today. As a Black writer and director, Coogler always infuses his work with his culture and history, because of that authentic storytelling, he has shown us worlds that have never before graced the silver screen.   • WHCA Community Coffee Hour-Everyone is welcome to join West Hill Community Association for great coffee, donuts and conversation. Come prepared to meet new friends, learn new things and interact meaningfully with your community. Or just eat donuts and hang out. No agenda, drop in anytime between 10 and 11:30 am. Bring a neighbor or two. (2/9)
  • BrickBuilders-The library will provide the LEGO®, you provide the fun! Build, create and share with other LEGO lovers! Grades K-5, ages 5 and younger welcome with adult. This is a drop-in program, registration not needed. (2/11)
  • Hip-Hop History and Self-Expression Music Workshop-Presented by Black Stax. Take an education journey through the history of Northwest Hip-Hop. Discover the power of your own voice through written and vocal exercises. Learn ways to use music to support social justice issues. Ages 12 and older. (2/27)
  • The Hate U Give Movie Screening-We will watch the movie then have a discussion with the amazing young leaders from EmpowHERment. (2/28)
  • Free individualized tax preparation assistance-Get free individualized tax preparation assistance provided by trained AARP volunteers. No age or income limits. Please bring picture I.D., documented proof of Social Security Number, and last year’s return as well as any current tax documents. Tuesdays and Saturdays 10am-3pm. Until April 13.
